Creating a new computer and mobile operating system from scratch is a massive, highly complex potential multi-year engineering project that requires writing custom bootloaders, kernels, and hardware drivers in assembly and C. 

 Core Phases of OS Development

 Design the Architecture: Decide whether you are building a monolithic kernel (like Linux) or a microkernel (like seL4). Determine target architectures (x86-64 for PCs, ARM for mobile). 

Write the Bootloader: Write low-level code in assembly to initialize the CPU, switch from 16-bit to 32/64-bit mode, and load your kernel into memory from storage. 

 Build the Kernel: Create the core program that handles memory allocation via paging, process scheduling, and interrupt requests for hardware like keyboards and touchscreens. 

 Develop Device Drivers: Write software interfaces to let the kernel communicate with specific hardware components like displays, storage controllers, and Wi-Fi chips.

 Implement User Space and GUI: Build an executable format (like ELF) for applications, a system call interface, and a graphical or touch-based user interface. 

 Test in Emulators: Use tools like QEMU or VirtualBox to run and debug your OS image without risking physical hardware.

Mobile-Specific Challenges

 Hardware Fragmentation: Unlike closed desktop environments, mobile hardware varies wildly across manufacturers, requiring a massive library of specific drivers or adaptation layers. 

 Power Management: Mobile operating systems must aggressively throttle CPU states and manage battery life, which requires specialized power-state schedulers built directly into the kernel. 

 Touch and Sensor Input: You must implement real-time multi-touch digitizer support, accelerometer/gyroscope integration, and gesture engines.
